Consultancy Services
Before going into food safety my career began in catering management. I was employed in various management positions for 2 of the largest contract catering providers in central London. After several years of practical management experience I progressed into a business development role negotiating support services contracts for both commercial companies and complex NHS Trusts across the UK.
Building on that background I now provide independent consultancy services for a wide variety of clients from busy high street restaurants to small independent & Artisan food producers, large commercial ventures, NHS Trusts and facilities management companies. Projects have ranged from small operational & practical issues to large Private Finance Initiatives. Challenges include the development and compilation of Service Quality Plans, Method Statements, Codes of Practice, Food Safety Manuals and HACCP Plans with relevant record sheets to ensure due diligence.
My experience enables me to give advice and guidance to chefs, managers and employers on a practical level and identify with the issues trainees may experience in the workplace. I also have a good insight into what life is like on the other side of the fence if you are trying to please and impress a visiting enforcement officer.
My most recent projects include ensuring a small independent hotel regained it’s 5 Food Safety Rating after being cut to a 1 – all achieved within 6 weeks of the first site visit and the award of a 5 rating to a new local steakhouse operation.
Training
I deliver training courses for both the public and private sector, for large complex businesses to small artisan food producers on a one-to-one basis. Whatever the situation courses are tailored to suit the needs of the client and candidates.
A priority of my training provision is to ensure the course content and delivery meet client and candidate needs including different knowledge levels, learning speeds and languages. This ensures the training message remains relevant and candidates leave motivated to make a difference on their return to the workplace. The inclusion of plenty of work-based activities means that candidates are actively involved in their training session.
The training courses I deliver are accredited by the CIEH who are field leaders and highly respected. Clients and candidates alike can be confident that our course content meets, and exceeds, the legal training standard.
If clients prefer I can compile bespoke training programmes to meet specific organisational requirements to fit their brief.
I also offer licences for CIEH eLearning courses as stand alone or a “blended learning” package whichever suits client needs best. In the current situation where face to face learning still brings challenges this can give a practical solution for many businesses especially as an interim training solution.
